Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Higher Education Grant
2012
This program supports accomplished graduates of Zayed University Bachelor programmes to complete MA or MSc. graduate study and PhD studies. The scholarship program will support studies at selected universities in the UAE and overseas based on their academic excellence and their offering of selected majors relevant to the UAE strategic requirements. All universities are to be accredited with the UAE Ministry for Higher Education.
Masters students have a choice of several universities and disciplines in UAE and at foreign universities included in the top 200 Academic Ranking of World Universities – and accredited by the UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The program provides selective support for summer study at an overseas university
to increase candidates' familiarity with location, culture and scholarly requirements.
The PhD programme covers tuition costs for students undertaking PhD studies at accredited universities located within the UAE and selective support for attending international
research conferences or visits to international research centres.
Student Eligibility:
- Graduate of Zayed University
- New enrollments only
- Aged between 21 and 31 years
- GPA of 3.0 or above
- IELTS of 6.0 or equivalent
- Excellent statement of purpose demonstrating commitment to pursue career in chosen field
- For overseas study, a letter of family support
- In some cases (depending on university), a GMAT score

The Award
The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Higher Education Grant will cover some or all of the following:
Study at UAE Universities:
- Tuition fees for the university programme
- Book purchase stipend
- For UAE based PhD studies – Selective support for attending international research conferences or visits to international research centers
Study at Overseas Universities:
- Monthly stipend to cover living, personal and in-country travel expenses for the duration of program
- Tuition fees for the university program
- Book purchase stipend
- Annual round-trip economy airfares between the UAE and country of study for the duration of the program
- Health insurance fees when not covered by university
The award will cover only the approved items listed above during the prescribed time period. Any extensions or breaks in study must be requested in writing and approved by the programme administrator.
Conference attendance will be covered for PhD fellowships only in the final year of study.
Scholarships and Fellowships are subject to adherence to an attendance policy and satisfactory academic performance. Reports from the university will be monitored and awards may be terminated immediately for breach of attendance policy, academic performance, or scholarship programme rules.
Extra allowances will not be provided for married persons or those with dependents.
Payment of personal allowances will be made on a monthly basis.
Application process
Applicants may
apply online only. Applicants should ensure that all requested information is provided and all documents requested are uploaded at the time of application. These documents will include:
- A certified copy of the applicant's degree certificate(s) along with an official transcript.
- Evidence of English language proficiency, e.g. IELTS or TOEFL.
- A photocopy of the applicant's passport
- A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- A Statement of Purpose
